Program

Guided Adaptive Exercise

One-on-one, activity-based training with a neuro exercise specialist, designed for life after spinal cord injury and other neurological conditions.

How a session works

Every session is one-on-one with a neuro exercise specialist. Sessions are 60 minutes and built around your goals, whether that's standing, stepping, transfers, balance, or simply getting stronger.

Training can extend a physical or occupational therapy program, or continue your progress after insurance-covered therapy visits are exhausted. Each session places an added focus on strength, mobility, balance, and flexibility.

What we work on

Standing & weight bearing

Supported standing and stepping on the Rise&Walk® to load the legs and build endurance.

Gait training

Body-weight-supported locomotor training to practice stepping patterns.

Strength & conditioning

Adaptive resistance training for the upper body, core, and legs.

Balance & core

Seated and supported balance work that carries over to transfers and daily life.

Floor & mat work

Stretching, range of motion, and functional movement on the mat.

Spinal cord stimulation

ARC-EX® by ONWARD Medical, a non-invasive spinal cord stimulation therapy used alongside training.

We're kinesiologists, not physical therapists

STRIDE SCI is an adaptive personal training facility. Our team are kinesiologists and exercise science professionals, not physical or occupational therapists, so training complements the care you receive from your medical team rather than replacing it. Our specialists hold graduate degrees in exercise science and NASM-CPT certification.

Sessions are self-pay at $100 per 60-minute session. We understand that affording resources for your recovery can be hard. Several SCI foundations offer grants that can help cover the cost of activity-based training. See our community resources for more.
